Day 2: Shanghai to Changzhou
A LEGO flower show, a visit with Ru's family, and an evening train trip to Changzhou.
When I woke up, it was 8:39 a.m. I had slept for almost 11 hours! My friend Ru texted to say she was on her way to the Hyatt and would arrive in 30 minutes. I jumped out of bed, ate breakfast, and packed everything. I was so efficient that I even FaceTimed with you for a few minutes!
After I met up with Ru and her family, we decided to visit a LEGO flower show by the Huangpu River. Her son is almost 10 years old and likes LEGO and art. He draws comics when he has time. On our way to the show, he told me he was also interested in a game called Black Wukong, based on a story called "Xi You Ji." He needs to finish his assignments before he can play it. He's only allowed to play on weekends and holidays, not on weekdays. Do you like that plan?
After about a 30-minute taxi ride, we arrived at the LEGO flower show. The place was full of flowers made entirely of LEGO pieces, and they were huge. Please see the pictures attached. I also told him about the LEGO city you built. Unfortunately, I didn't have a picture to show him.
I went to his home after the LEGO visit. His room was very clean. He played the piano for me and showed me his Chinese homework. I was really impressed by his handwriting and the complexity of his schoolwork. The pictures were from third grade, which is more advanced than what you're learning in fourth grade. By the way, he's also in fourth grade.
After that, I went to the train station to travel to Changzhou, where Grandpa lives. Everything went smoothly, and I arrived in Changzhou around 5 p.m. It took me an hour to get to the apartment you guys stayed in during the summer. I had dinner with Grandpa and went to a concert afterward. The singer I liked sang only four songs, and it took forever to get an Uber to pick me up. I arrived home around 11 p.m. What a long day!
I need to leave now. Talk to you later. Mommy
