Me, my dad, Zhenyu Zhou, Xutong Li, Nolan, Albert and Asher went to the Houston Zoo on December 21, 2025.
First, we went to the Galapagos Islands and saw Galapagos tortoises, seals, and penguins.
Photo of a child looking at a seal in an enclosure.
I guess that the penguins were dumb because they swam around the maps that we were holding, even though the maps were not food and that they clearly knew that there was a one inch thick wall. Some of the penguins learned, though.
Three photos of children at the zoo viewing animals and posing together.
We went to the wetlands to see the bald eagles, Sally and Mae. I learned that they had wing injuries that kept them from flying. Their nest was more than 1 meter long and more than one foot high! We also learned their stories.
After, we went to the cafe to eat lunch. I ate a sandwich with a burger patty, an egg, and even ketchup! That was not all. I also ate two chicken nuggets, several smoothie drops, and several Pocky sticks.
Then, we discovered that parts of a bridge was hollow and used reeds as boats to float some things to the other side of the bridge.
After that, we went to the bug house, and saw more than 30 cockroaches in one of the chambers. I decided to go on a bug hunt. Some of the insects I found were: more than 25 beetles, 1 walking stick, and even a LEGO Hercules beetle!
For our next exhibit, we went to the lions. I did not like the viewing tunnel. It had hundreds of leaves on the walkway, was very humid, and we did not see any lions!
We went to the playground. I discovered new parts and had a lot of exercise. I sweat a lot and we pretended that we were pirates, played a lot, and we put our bodies to the test by going on a lot of obstacle courses.
This trip to the zoo was very fun! We saw tortoises, seals, penguins, bald eagles, bugs, and lions. We went to the playground. It was amazing!!
